Import and export

Your tracked apps and keywords live on your Mac. Export and import is how they move between Keywordee installs, for example to a new Mac or a teammate.

Choose File › Export…. Choose JSON to share with a teammate, or CSV for a spreadsheet. Export works even when your license has lapsed.

  • JSON holds your tracked apps and their notes, tracked keywords, tags and keyword notes. It never holds your license key, activation data, tokens or keyword numbers (popularity, difficulty and ranking apps). The Mac that imports it fetches the numbers itself.
  • CSV has one line per tracked keyword across all your apps: Keyword, App, Platform, Storefront, Tags, Notes, Popularity, Difficulty, Rank and Updated. Numbers are blank until known. CSV is for reading in a spreadsheet, not for importing.

Choose File › Import… and pick a Keywordee JSON file. Keywordee can import only files that Keywordee exported. Nothing is removed or overwritten:

  • An app is the same when its platform, storefront and store app id match. Your existing name stays.
  • A keyword is the same when its term matches within that app.
  • New apps and keywords are added. Tags are combined.
  • An imported note is added after your own, unless you already have it.

Importing a file twice, or your own export, changes nothing. The import tells you how many apps and keywords it added and how many it updated, and it either all happens or none of it does. A file made by a newer version of Keywordee is refused.

Open Settings › Export and choose off, daily or weekly, a time, a folder and a format (JSON or CSV). Keywordee writes the file on that schedule while it is open. The sidebar footer shows it, for example “Daily export to ~/Keywordee/export · 07:00”.

Tracked apps belong to a Mac, not to the license. Export on one Mac and import on the other.
